Back to your son 8767 s Subject Test scores. I do think there is room for improvement. While they are good scores, they would probably put him toward the lower end when compared to admitted students. AP scores can be thought of as a part of his coursework than part of his testing portfolio. APs are not designed to be admission tests. Most colleges will at least take a look at them, but his grades in those courses are likely more important than his test scores.
Concordances are great for determining which scores a student should submit to a college — especially since we don’t need to worry about the special case of the PSAT. A student with a 79 ACT is better off sending that score than sending a 6875 SAT score. Concordances are not so good, though, at predicting future performance. This is why we have emphasized score ranges in our guidance. Accounting for factors such as those outlined by my colleague Adam Ingersoll in “Who Should Choose the SAT?” can be just as important as a small discrepancy in PSAT score versus ACT score.
Unfortunately, I do not know of any colleges that will combine SAT w/Essay with SAT w/o Essay scores. This creates a situation where even though most colleges do not require the essay most students are best advised to take the essay. This seems like over-testing that could easily be eliminated if colleges decided to superscore essay an non-essay results, but admission offices have not yet come around to that way of thinking.
The GPA requirement that really matters is the GPA you need for a real chance of getting in. For this, we look at the school's average GPA for its current students.
I had never camped before and now my father thought it would be good for us to bond, away from civilization. We packed and headed out not for a camp ground with tent sites and shower rooms. We headed for the back regions of swamps and raspberry bushes, at least a thousand miles from home and regular communication.
Also, the new SAT shows two percentiles each for Math and English. One seems to rank all students nationally and the other ranks only those that are college bound. Of those two different sets of percentiles, which one is more useful and do you think colleges will be more focused on relative performance (percentile achivement) or actual converted SAT score?
My son took the SAT and got a 6555 785 reading/writing 775 Math, but his supplemental wring essay he didn 8767 t far well how much weight will rice University put with that

I 8767 d be hesitant to say that the SAT Math score will boost your daughter 8767 s math credentials, but I can 8767 t muster an argument against sending both scores. Her 87M is hardly a weak score, and the 765 on the Math 7 is more relevant to most engineering programs. The 6565 new SAT and 89 ACT, though, are quite similar, so she is not hurting herself by sending both scores. I often warn students about the 8775 gotcha 8776 of needing to send all SAT scores to non-Score Choice schools. Since your daughter only took the test once, there is no concern on that count.
As far as I know, all superscoring schools where the essay is optional will superscore between essay and non-essay exams. The tricky part is when colleges require the essay. In those cases, some college superscore (I 8767 d say that this is the majority), but a few do not. It sounds like your son is in good shape.
Thank you for pointing this out. We had originally had misinformation on Reed 8767 s policy. Our table was corrected, but the paragraph had not been fixed. Reed is essay optional for both the SAT and ACT.
